The Simpsons Arrives in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in Fortnite. That said, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is another question, as there's only one Springfield vehicle the community is itching to drive, and this isn't it.

What Fans Really Want

Although most players would undoubtedly love to compete while driving The Homer—the famously flawed automobile the patriarch designed himself in the classic installment "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in season 10. Rather, fans are getting the family's everyday well-worn sedan, which they've been driving since 1989. Even though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it remains an recognizable element of the series. And for players who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the sole cosmetic from the show coming to the game. This limited-time event will also include a set of challenges to earn more rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a press release, the missions will require participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to the Simpson residence, and drive a distance sufficient for acquiring the ideal pastries!"

Although the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it seems fans will also receive rims featuring a TV showing the show's opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects inspired by burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the major Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which brings a completely new map of Springfield, as well as a 30-day seasonal progression system. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration begins on November 1st and ends on November 17th.
